The House Sitter Review
Mood:
"The best lies are those that are part truths."
This book was a great mood-changer for me. It is a short and quick read, falling into the light suspense genre.
Summary:
Jude is going to house sit for Michelle Crane, a famous social media person. She should be ecstatic, but instead she is terrified, because to save herself from ruination, she is going to ruin Michelle. What secrets does Jude want to hide from the world that her blackmailer knows and that could ruin her?
Thoughts on Plot of the Book:
"It’s a lot easier to have paranoid thoughts when you’ve got something to hide."
Written expertly, I was invested in the plot and Jude from the start. It takes place in a small setting with a few characters. Additionally, it is constructed so that, at some point or another, every single character is under suspicion. The plot twists are well-placed; some of them I could see coming, while others completely caught me off guard.
The finale was quite predictable because there aren't many characters in this plot, as was already mentioned, but I was still uncertain and continued guessing till the very end.
Characters:
"The thing with personality is that if you try hard enough, you can show other people only what you want them to see."
I adored Jude as a character because she was so reasonable and relatable. And the dilemma in which she is stuck left me feeling afraid for her.
Recommendation:
I don't want to give anything away because this is a suspense story. Having said that, I would recommend it to everyone who enjoys suspense. And I also believe that this book will be a fantastic start for anyone attempting to get into this genre.
ARC:
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
